The Outgoing President of the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science humbly welcomed an interview held by Aprokounilag on Monday, 18th Nov. 2019 which also happened to be his birthday.
Let me take you through the interview:
Aprokounilag: Good Morning Sir
Aprokounilag: As you celebrate your birthday today Sir, I have some questions to ask you and I will be glad you answer me.
SBM: I'm with you
Aprokounilag: What's your full name Sir?
Your Educational Background
(Primary school, Secondary School and others)
SBM: Amosuro Oluwamayowa
SBM: Femland int. School ijebu Igbo.
St Michael nursery and primary school, Abeokuta. Lincoln
group of schools, Abeokuta and then Unilag
Aprokounilag: Where exactly do you come from Sir? (I mean your state and town of Origin)
SBM: Although I was born in ijebu, I spent just 3 years there. Bulk
of my life was spent in Abeokuta. I'm
from Ogun state, obafemi owode local government
Aprokounilag: How
did you come about the name SBM? What is the full meaning?SBM: Lol..the meaning right now wasn't the same as initial. SBM is a brand name Stunning Brilliant Minds, we're a group of individuals aimed at penetrating all sectors to grow and optimize the system. Initially, it was Small but mighty given to me by my secondary school Gardner after I beat a senior who bullied me the first week I got into jss1.
Aprokounilag: So how will you describe your life as a chemistry Student in Unilag?
SBM: It
was more like an adoption into a family, just like the way a family is being set up there were good times and bad times, it wasn't easy balancing the academic life, political life and social life, but there was a purpose and the conviction was so strong which helped me pull through.
Aprokounilag: What are the major difficulties you've faced as a student of Unilag?
SBM: I would say funds and accommodation because I had to drop my hustle to concentrate on my studies but I later realized I could balance the two.
Aprokounilag: What are your major achievements as a student of Unilag?
SBM: Before my admission I wrote four things down
📌 Graduate with a 2:1
📌 hold two political posts
📌 win at least two awards
📌 be in no relationship.
I achieved even more than these four things.. My major achievement is being able to achieve what I aspired.
Aprokounilag: Among the Departmental Lecturers, whose life inspires you the most?
SBM: Prof. L.A Adams
Aprokounilag: What advice will you give to a FRESHER in Unilag?
SBM: Find the balance, there is always a balance. There are no excuses for failures. I financed my education myself and still was able to survive the academic hustle. More importantly, unilag is a world of opportunities, tap into the opportunities and make your life outta it, also make sure in everything you're happy cos life is actually to short.
Aprokounilag: Wow.. Thanks So Much Sir. I really appreciate.
SBM: AMEN! Thanks..it's a honour to be interviewed
I hope you gained something from his words. 🤔👍
